Athletic Philosophy
Student-Athlete Academy (SAA) is a one of a kind athletic and academic combined experience similar to the international sports-specific training academies of Europe and Asia. SAA is indistinguishable in how we allow basketball players to be basketball players and focus on their craft daily as their workouts are integrated into their academy day.
Our goal is to work smart and efficiently to help our student-athletes optimize their achievements , because solely training isn’t enough, but training the right skills and right way of thinking of the game is. It was said best by the legendary former UCLA coach, John Wooden, “Don’t mistake activity with achievement.”
Our primary focus is to enhance our students-athletes overall ability to have the greatest chance of being successful at the next level with the immediate goal of obtaining the ability and mastery to be a successful productive member of a varsity level team as a freshman high school basketball player.
Athletic Curriculum
SAA provides an intense training environment with high-level teaching and coaching. Student-athletes are proposed an opportunity to learn from coaches who have coached, trained, and played at the highest levels with the ability to prepare others for the next level with peers who also have the same ambition and common goals. The program is led by renowned player-development coach, Tarik Robinson, who has a track record of developing the nation's best talent of all levels including NBA/WNBA players.
SAA follows a strict and purposeful basketball skill & IQ enhancement curriculum, with all of the skills that are needed on the court to be successful as an elite level player. The Athletic Curriculum is detailed and filled with purposeful implementations to enhance the student-athletes basketball IQ, basketball skill set, strength, conditioning, speed, explosiveness, agility, corrective movement, recovery, controlled and competitive play. Our program stresses discipline, maturity, mental toughness, confidence, focus, and determination; all of which is a must in this journey as an elite level student-athlete.
Competition
There is no bigger measurement of performance training than competition. As we are an academy, not only do we compete against each other internally in competitive simulated games we will also field teams competing in exhibitions, leagues, as well as scholastic and international competitions.
